Winner or Whiner?
Name: Michelle
Status: Married
Occupation: Business Owner
Kids: None
Joy's Critique based on her 4Pillars for your Best Body Now!
1. Fitness: Winner!!! She consistently works out at a scheduled time on weekdays. She also makes sure that she gets variety.
2. Food: Whiner:( I am not an advocate of a high-protein diet so I would have made sure that she does not believe ALL carbs are bad. She needs to add more produce (between her meals as snacks would be great). She needs a healthy snack after dinner since she does not go to bed until midnight. She has a strong desire to be healthy so it would be easy for her to improve eating and maintain fat burning mode.
3.Supplements: Whiner:( She can keep her multivitamin at work everyday to remember to take it.
4.Mindset: Winner!!! She is excited about turning 40 and improving her health and fitness even more. She has a positive attitude on life, love and people and enjoys every step of the journey. The only thing that can be improved here is for her to eliminate using the word "try".
Thanks a million, Michelle:)

What role does social activities play in health?

Diet and exercise are often promoted as the mainstays of health. But according to a new study in the American Journal of Health Behavior, that formula may be missing a key component. When researchers surveyed 3,032 American adults on their health behaviors and lifestyle, they found evidence suggesting that social activities were a significant part of overall health. In fact, the researchers noted that frequent contact with friends and weekly church attendance had comparable effects to regular moderate exercise. They maintain that exercise is still an important component of staying healthy, but stress that staying socially connected holds significant promise too.

Do you RUN from the very thing that can help you?

It amazes me how if someone starts to become depressed they stop going to church. If someones someone gains weight or stop eating healthy they stop working out. If someone owes a friend money and can't pay it they avoid them instead of being honest about it and keeping the friendship. People stop and run in the opposite direction because they feel GUILTY. I believe guilt has caused people to do unspeakable things, but running is the most common effect. A better option would be to face the giant. Face your fear and feeling. Take those feeling of guilt, fear and disappointment and replace them with boldness and hope. When you run 1 area of your life you will run from many more. How can you tell your kids to hang in there, things will get better, but not do it yourself? Pick your head up and remember that everytime the sun shines on a new day, you have a chance to make a new and better choice.
